Privacy Policy
Katz Technologies LLC
Last Updated: 16.03.2026
1. Introduction
Katz Wallet is a non-custodial mobile cryptocurrency wallet built on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it in connection with our mobile applications for iOS and Android (the "App").
By installing or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
2. Who We Are
Katz Wallet is operated by Katz Technologies LLC ("Katz Wallet", "we", "us", "our").
Contact: admin@katzwallet.com
Katz Technologies LLC is the data controller for personal data processed in connection with Katz Wallet.
3. Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the Katz Wallet mobile applications for iOS and Android. It does not apply to:
- Third-party services accessible via Katz Wallet (e.g., external xApps, MoonPay, DEX interfaces)
- External websites, social media pages, or services operated by third parties
Those services have their own privacy policies and data practices.
4. Summary — What We Collect and What We Don't
We collect only what is necessary to provide and improve the App. Here is a quick overview:
What we do NOT collect:
- Your private keys, recovery phrases, or wallet secrets — these never leave your device
- Your biometric data (Face ID / Touch ID) — handled entirely by your device's OS
- Camera images — QR codes are processed locally, no images are uploaded
- In-app behavioral analytics or advertising data
- Server-side logs of your requests or IP address
What we do collect:
- Crash and error reports via Sentry (device info, OS version, stack traces, App version)
- Aggregated public market data (token rankings) — not linked to your identity
5. Data Processed Locally on Your Device
The following information is generated and stored exclusively on your device. It is never transmitted to our servers:
5.1 Wallet and Key Material
The App may generate or import private keys, public keys, wallet addresses, and recovery (seed) phrases. All such data is:
- Generated on your device
- Encrypted and stored locally using Secure Enclave & Keychain (iOS) or StrongBox / hardware-backed keystore (Android)
- Never transmitted to or accessible by Katz Wallet's servers
We cannot access, recover, or restore your private keys or seed phrases. If you lose them, we cannot help you regain access to your wallet.
5.2 Biometric Authentication
If you enable Face ID or Touch ID, authentication is handled entirely by your device's operating system. Katz Wallet:
- Does not receive or store your biometric data
- Only receives a pass/fail signal from the OS to unlock the App
5.3 Camera and QR Codes
When you use the camera to scan QR codes (e.g., wallet addresses), the image is processed locally on your device to extract the QR data. No images are uploaded to our servers.
5.4 App Settings and Preferences
Your in-app settings and preferences (e.g., display currency, language, selected wallets) are stored locally on your device only and are not synced to our servers.
6. Data Collected by Our Services
6.1 Crash Reporting — Sentry
We use Sentry (sentry.io) as a third-party crash reporting tool. When the App crashes or encounters an error, Sentry automatically collects and sends us a report that may include:
- Device type and model
- Operating system version
- App version
- Stack trace and error details
- A randomly generated device identifier (not linked to your identity)
Sentry does not receive your wallet addresses, private keys, or any financial data. Sentry processes data under its own privacy policy, available at https://sentry.io/privacy/. We use crash reports solely to identify and fix bugs in the App.
6.2 Market Data Aggregation
Our backend aggregates publicly available on-chain and market data from third-party data providers to generate token rankings and market analytics displayed in the App. This aggregation is performed server-side and is not linked to your identity or wallet address.
7. How We Use Your Data
We use the data we collect for the following purposes:
- Crash reporting: to identify, diagnose, and fix technical issues in the App
- Legal compliance: to comply with applicable legal obligations
We do not use your data for targeted advertising, behavioral profiling, or any purpose not described in this Policy. We do not sell your data to third parties.
8. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR / UK GDPR)
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the United Kingdom, we process personal data on the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) — for crash reporting and service stability, where our interest in maintaining a safe and functional App does not override your privacy rights.
- Compliance with a legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR) — where applicable law requires retention of certain records.
9. Blockchain and On-Chain Data
The XRP Ledger is a public, decentralized blockchain. Wallet addresses and transactions broadcast to the network are publicly visible by design and are not controlled by Katz Wallet.
10. Third-Party Services
The following third-party services may process data in connection with Katz Wallet:
Sentry (crash reporting)
Collects crash and error data as described in Section 6.1. Privacy policy: https://sentry.io/privacy/
Third-party market data providers
Our backend aggregates publicly available data from market and on-chain data APIs to generate token rankings. Your personal data is not shared with these providers.
Third-party xApps and services
Katz Wallet may provide access to third-party services (xApps, DEX interfaces, NFT platforms, fiat on-/off-ramp providers such as MoonPay). These are operated independently under their own privacy policies. We strongly recommend reviewing their policies before use.
11. Device Permissions
The App requests the following device permissions:
Camera
Used exclusively to scan QR codes (e.g., wallet addresses). No images are captured or uploaded. Processing is done locally on your device.
Face ID / Touch ID
Used to authenticate and unlock the App. All biometric processing is handled by your device's OS. Katz Wallet never receives, stores, or transmits biometric data.
12. Data Retention
We retain data only for as long as necessary:
- Crash reports (Sentry): retained for up to 90 days, then automatically deleted by Sentry
- User profile data (nickname, avatar, linked social accounts): retained until you delete your profile
- On-device data (keys, phrases, settings): retained on your device until you delete your wallets or uninstall the App; we have no access to this data
13. Data Security
13.1 On-Device Security
- Secure Enclave & Keychain (iOS)
- StrongBox / hardware-backed keystore (Android)
- AES-256-GCM encryption for locally stored secrets
13.2 Server-Side Security
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit
- Least-privilege access controls for internal systems
- Strong authentication and secure key management
You are responsible for keeping your device secure, your recovery phrase confidential, and ensuring no unauthorized person has access to your unlocked device. We cannot recover your private keys or funds if lost or stolen.
14. International Data Transfers
If personal data is transferred to or processed in a country other than your own, we will take appropriate steps to ensure adequate protection, including contractual safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses for EEA transfers) where required by applicable law.
15. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:
- Right of access — to request a copy of data we hold about you
- Right to rectification — to correct inaccurate data
- Right to erasure — to request deletion of your data
- Right to restriction of processing
- Right to data portability
- Right to object to certain processing
- Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent
These rights apply to users in the EEA, UK, California (CCPA/CPRA), and other applicable jurisdictions.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at admin@katzwallet.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (generally 30 days). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
16. Children's Privacy
Katz Wallet is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we become aware that a user under 18 has provided us with personal data, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
If you believe a person under 18 is using Katz Wallet in a way that involves personal data, please contact us at admin@katzwallet.com.
17. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the App evolves or as applicable laws change. When we make changes:
- We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this Policy
- For material changes (e.g., new categories of data collection), we will provide clear notice inside the App and, where required by law, request your consent
We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
18. Future Features
Future versions of Katz Wallet may introduce additional features such as social interactions, DAO mechanics, or additional integrations. If and when such features require new data collection:
- We will update this Privacy Policy before or at the time of activation
- We will clearly describe what data is collected, for what purposes, and the legal basis
- Where required by law, we will request your explicit consent before collecting new categories of personal data
